Death and Resurrection of a Laptop

Colin tried to murder our laptop a while ago. He loves playing with the computer so we try to be vigilant about keeping the laptop closed and the chair put away so he can't get onto the desktop. That boy can wreak total havoc in under 2 minutes where electronics (or anything -sigh-) is concerned. For some unknown reason he felt that the individual keys on the laptop keyboard should be pried off and thrown about the office like confetti. Well, I think James can say that he never really wanted to know what laptop keys really look like. There's 3 layers of tiny pieces that have to go under each individual key, so James spent an hour reassembling the keyboard. Colin permanently broke the enter and control key. Luckily we got the new desktop computer for Christmas so the laptop gets used sparingly. My mantra - I love my kids, I love my kids, I love my kids...

Happy 5th Birthday Ian

This post is very late in coming - but our firstborn son is 5 years old! It's hard to believe that so much time has passed and that he will be doing his kindergarten screening next month (we'll have three at Maple Grove Elementary next year). He was terribly sick over his actual birthday on the 5th, but luckily the party wasn't scheduled until Sunday by which he was completely recovered. Per his request his party was at Chuck-E-Cheese and he had an absolute blast. Colin really liked it too. He got some Leapster games and specifically requested anything Wall-E, so his birthday loot liked like an advertisement for the Disney Store LOL.

Never Again

Okay, I tried ordering flowers online last year from Martha Stewart Flowers only to have it arrive late and dead (it was a live orchid), not just once, but twice. It's taken a year for me to work up the courage to try again, but I decided it would be a perfect gift for Mom's birthday. I found an arrangement that I really liked and I thought was very tranquil yet springy. Well, this time it arrived on time, and it wasn't dead (they were cut flowers, after all LOL), but I think the results left quite a lot to be desired. I guess I'll just give up on flowers as gifts, grr. Here's a picture of what I ordered - a lovely arrangement entitled Serene Green, and here's the "creation" that arrived. Doesn't it look like something some 65 year old woman in polyester pants who wears puff paint sweatshirts and decorates her kitchen in cows and daisies would make? And you've gotta love the grocery store cooler vase that apparently doubles as a super-full snowglobe after the flowers die. Sorry Mom.

Two Digits

We are nearing the finish line - I have less than 100 days left to go til D-Day. Tomorrow will be 26 weeks, which means I'm nearing the end of the 2nd trimester as well. Where has the time gone?! At least the weather is trying to keep May at bay - we woke up to snow and icy roads this morning. Last weekend we primed and repainted Allegra's old room for the boys. The walls are a tan color and we switched over their light fixture. It was such a pain to move the furniture into the new room because we had to disassemble it, but it is done and it looks quite cute. Colin is doing okay with the transition into his big boy bed. He does spend some time wandering around the room and yesterday he unloaded ALL the drawers in the dressers and trundle so I spent quite a bit of time refolding and sorting clothes, but I guess that's all part of the process. Our upstairs is still quite a disaster though as most of Allegra's belongings are out in the hallway - we plan to prime her room (she and Cecily will be sharing) on Saturday and hopefully paint it on Sunday. I'll share pictures of both rooms when they are done. P.S. Happy Day After Your Birthday, Mom!
