And Let's Not Forget Elinor!

Two short days after Hero's big Happy 13th, Elinor turned 2.  Is it possible that the time has flown by so fast?  (((sigh)))  My baby is not such a baby anymore.  Love you, Miss Elle!

We've Got a Teenager in the House, Gulp!

I became the proud parent of a teenage girl on Friday, July 13th (so appropriate, no?).  Hero skipped three years' worth of birthday parties so that she could have a big bash with friends for her 13th.  Being unable to weasel our ways out of that promise, we delivered on a bash with friends and family at Roaring Springs Waterpark.  Well, when I say we delivered, I'm being melodramatic.  I secretly LOVE waterpark birthdays because they are so easy on the parent.  I bring sunscreen, presents, towels, and my debit card.  That's about the extent of my contribution, yet I get lots of Supermom points because everyone has such a great time.  Hero celebrated the day with Mom and Dad, her sibs, her aunt and cousin, and six or seven friends.  She brought in a pile of loot that included hair stuff, makeup, room decor, gift cards, and a pair of Uggs.  I think the most thrilling thing for her, out of the whole shebang though, was finally gaining entry into that oh-so-cool Teenager club.

Summer Camp(s)

Both Hero and Allegra took summer church trips this year and had a great time.  Allegra spent a whole week at Camp Pinewood for Junior Camp with her church bestie, Naomi (and some other great girls), and boy did she come back with the pictures to prove it, not to mention videos and stories that took hours to retell...  I'll spare you the full array of pictures, and just share a few.

Hero did just the "surprise" Junior High Youth Group roadtrip this year with a few 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and the youth pastor and his wife. They aren't told where they are going - they just loaded onto the bus with two nights and three days worth of supplies and went. The original destination ended up being scratched, though, due to fires, so they ended up at Camp Pinewood too. Hero said it was lots of fun (although she didn't come back with near as many pictures as Allegra LOL).

Our Fearless Firecracker

Did you guess who I'm talking about? It's Cecily. That girl is crazy strong, crazy bold, and crazy determined. I have a feeling we are in for quite the ride as that little girl grows up, but that she's going to accomplish great things when she finally gets there. This summer she made her first go at ice-skating (inspired by her big sisters, of course). She took a Learn-to-Skate class and was by far the youngest kid there, but she was so up for the challenge. Her legs were flying everywhere, but she clung to the little tripod and scooted back and forth with obvious glee. It didn't hurt that Hero and Allegra were allowed to be on the ice (their summer teacher was the head of the ice-skating program) during the session for extra support and encouragement. I can already picture the adorable outfits and routines (and James will no doubt groan when he reads this).
