Hero turns 9

I can't believe I've been a mom for 9 years. 9 just sounds so grown-up. Hero had a crazy-busy birthday. Prep started on Saturday night because we had to have everything ready to go by the time we left for church at 9:15 on Sunday (yes, we were late again, but only by a few minutes this time). After Sunday School finished up we took the kids to Nana and Papa's house for a quick change into swimsuits, abbreviated piano lessons, and a quick lunch, then it was off to Roaring Springs for a day of birthday merriment. It was Hero's 3rd birthday party in a row at Roaring Springs and the biggest one yet. The guest list included Hero, Allegra, Ian, Oriana, Taylor, Hope, Kvande, Hailey, Mom and Dad, Colin, Aunt Jennifer, and Nana and Papa. As soon as we got into the park the fun started - the kids went off to ride Viper's Vortex and we set up camp with all of our stuff. Much fun was had by all - Allegra spent most of the day in the wave pool, Colin loved the Endless River, and Ian had fun on the slides in the Kiddie Pool. Hero rode on everything except for The Avalanche - maybe next year. In addition to playing in the water we enjoyed some birthday games, pizza, ice cream, and cake. Hero got lots of fabulous presents including a pink Ninendo DS (finally, she'd say). We stayed at Roaring Springs til close and afterwards headed to our house for a huge sleepover. We thought that they would've been tired out from 7 hours of swimming and sun, but no... They watched Spirit (Hero's choice) and then we shut them all (plus Ian) into the playroom and fled upstairs. I think they got some sleep, but probably not too much. They were up bright and early in the morning and enjoyed a scrambled egg and blueberry pancake breakfast a la Chef Dad. Whew, another birthday party behind us. See you in 2009, Roaring Springs!

Happy Birthday to our very first grand baby! It just seems like yesterday that you were born. I remember holding this tiny miracle and thinking life just can't get better that this! We miss you Honey!
